On this episode of the Occasional Show, ‘Cable Bond?” Shawn Burns welcomes stay at home dad and podcaster from the More Gooder Than Podcast, Chris Braatten.
Sporadic News of Interest
The interwebs were set ablaze when Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman posted this picture on Instagram fueling rumors that Pierce Brosnan would be cast as Cable in the upcoming film Deadpool 2. Brosnan has remained quiet on the subject, but Shawn and Chris certainly have their opinions as to whether the Bond actor would make a good Cable and answer the question, “If not Brosnan, then who???”
###Spoiler Warning### Please note that the second story in the Sporadic News of Interest contains Spoiler Warnings for Season 7 of the Walking Dead.
Shawn and Chris then delve into Executive Producers of the Walking Dead, Gale Anne Hurd’s comments that the violence of The Walking Dead was dialed back following the very graphically violent Season 7 premier. (Since the time of this recording several other of the Walking Dead’s production team have disputed this. You can read about that here.) Regardless we discuss violence on the Walking Dead, TV in general and how much TV has changed that they are able to make these changes so soon.
***Explicit Language Warning*** The guys finish up their discussion by taking on the 74th Annual People’s Choice Awards. Do they think there are too many categories? Do they think some of the categories are absolutely ridiculous? Is Shawn off his meds and cursing up a blue streak on this topic? Yes. The answer to all of that is yes.
After the news we take some time to get to know our guest, stay at home dad and host of the More Gooder Than Podcast Chris Braatten. We ask him about how he got into podcasting and he shares his experience balancing the raising of two daughters and a podcast.
Finally, Shawn wraps things up with a game of This or That. See if Chris can match our audience’s answer to which do you prefer, Pop Tarts or Toaster Strudels.
